We Offer:
A bespoke external oak staircase with landing should be assembled in sequence to keep the frame square, level and structurally secure.
1. Build the Landing Frame. Set the rear posts on their metal base plates, check plumb and level, then assemble the head beam and braces. Raise and temporarily brace the frame before fixing the bases. Fit the front posts and return beams, followed by the oak baserail, handrail and spindles.
2. Fit the Stair Support. Install the final stair-side post and return beam, leaving the access side open for the staircase.
3. Install the Oak Staircase. Assemble the strings, treads and risers on the ground where practical. Lift into position and insert the string tenons into the post mortises. Secure the joints with oak pegs/dowels.
4. Fit the Landing Boards. Lay and fix the oak landing boards, checking the finished level and leaving an appropriate expansion gap at the wall for natural timber movement.
Final Checks. Check post alignment, stair geometry, joint seating, balustrade spacing and structural fixings before the staircase is put into use.
