Direct or Face Glazing integrates glass into green oak frames, effectively used by Timber Solution in various projects.
Our face-glazed units feature flexible weather seals for natural movement, enhancing longevity and performance. Seasoned oak capping improves thermal efficiency, saving energy and extending the glazing’s lifespan.
A significant aesthetic benefit is the seamless integration of glass without rebating, creating a cohesive look with air-dried oak caps.
This method simplifies installation and reduces costs while enhancing visual appeal. Timber Solution’s innovative Direct or Face Glazing offers clients an efficient and attractive option for their construction projects.
Oak direct glazing creates a clean and minimal roofing solution. We install the double glazing units directly onto the oak frame structure. This approach keeps the natural beauty of the oak fully visible while delivering a secure and weatherproof finish.
We position the double glazing from the outside edge of the oak frame. Each glass unit includes a 20 mm lip around the perimeter. This lip allows the glass to sit securely on the oak and creates a neat overhang. As a result, the detail improves water runoff and protects the joint.
We fix softwood battens around the full perimeter of the glazing panel. These battens follow the exact shape of the glass. They hold the unit firmly in place and ensure proper compression on the seals.
After that, we install air-dried oak capping on top of the softwood battens. The oak capping provides strong mechanical fixing and long-term durability. It also keeps the finish consistent with the rest of the oak frame. Because we avoid aluminium bars, the structure maintains a fully traditional appearance.
Oak direct glazing delivers a refined architectural look and strong structural performance. It suits both traditional and contemporary oak designs while keeping the focus on natural timber.
We supply the complete structural oak frame according to the approved drawings. Our team CNC cuts each component for precision and prepares it for on-site assembly. We include traditional mortise and tenon joints and pre-drilled peg holes where needed.
We provide detailed installation drawings with your oak frame. The drawings show the frame layout, joint locations, beam sizes, and assembly sequence. Your installer can follow them to assemble the structure accurately and efficiently.
We supply air-dried oak capping for the glazing perimeter. The capping fits over the softwood battens and secures the glazing units firmly in position. It creates a consistent, traditional finish that complements the main oak frame.
We manufacture the main gable frame, also known as the gable truss, as the key structural element of the building. It supports the roof and defines the overall shape of the structure. Our team produces it to the specified dimensions and structural requirements so your installer can assemble it directly on site.
