Bamboo for Bespoke Oak Pergolas

Bamboo offers a natural and distinctive way to complement traditional oak. At Timber Solution, we are exploring bamboo for screening, shade and natural texture within our bespoke oak pergolas.

Bamboo Panels

We supply bamboo in 1.8 × 1.8 m panels, with individual poles measuring approximately 20–28 mm in diameter. The slim natural poles create a lightweight, open appearance while providing useful shade and screening.

Oak and Bamboo – A Natural Combination

Oak forms the main structural frame, with substantial posts, beams and traditional detailing. Bamboo adds a lightweight infill that complements the strength and character of the oak.

You can use bamboo:

• Across the top of an open pergola
• Between oak rafters
• As side screening
• Above an outdoor seating or dining area

The natural variation in bamboo works well with the grain and character of oak, creating a warm and organic garden structure.

Designed Around Your Pergola

Each panel measures 1.8 × 1.8 m, allowing us to consider these dimensions during the initial pergola design. Planning the structure around the panels can create a cleaner installation and reduce unnecessary cutting. We use bamboo as an infill or screening material, rather than as the primary structural element. The oak remains the main structural frame. For clients looking beyond conventional timber roofing or screening, bamboo combined with bespoke oak creates a distinctive and natural garden feature.
