Timber Solution supplied and produced high-quality oak frames.
Oak is an amazing tree, so beautiful and majestic. Oak structures are traditional and it is a historical material in Great Britain whilst also being one of the hardest and most durable timbers on the planet.

Material can resist environmental effects of decay well so you can expect oak to have longevity.

All our products are made from French oak. French oak is better suited for oak framed buildings and oak roof trusses. Our beams are made from a fresh sawn oak, moisture content is very high, that is why it is called Green Oak.

Oak beams are most often used for decorative purposes, different structures, such as: trusses, houses, pergolas, gazebos, garages, etc. Green oak is cut according to the European QPA and QP1 standards. These are the highest grades available. Oak is a construction material, strength grade is D24 – D30. Oak’s density measures at 1100 kg/m3.

Oak is a natural, organic material and very powerful material. From time to time, Britain experiences difficult, varied weather. On sunny days oak shrinks, on rainy days it swells as its moisture content falls and rises. Oak property does not affect the quality of the frame and joints.

All green oak frames spend the first few years of their lives shrinking and developing cracks. The cracks make timber more majestic. Cracks that develop after the frame has been manufactured are purely cosmetic and will have no effect on the structural integrity of the oak frame.

As green oak is a nature it will shrink approximately 2-3% as the moisture content drops over a 3 – 5 years period. This will result in some splits and twisting of the oak sections, which is a normal natural process.

Process of shrinking is expected to last for the first few years. Small gaps will appear between the beams and the plaster or around the joints, but this is again purely cosmetic and happens with all green oak frames. It doesn’t matter what type of fixing, the length or size of the fixing, it is impossible stop internal forces from bow or twisting.

Every oak beam is checked for defects before using it in the frame production and we make sure to reject any items with excessive cracks, insect damage or mechanical faults.

Q: How do I know if the foundation is suitable for our oak products?

A1: Concrete slab should be even without any splits, damages or bubbles.

A2: Foundation tolerance should be 1 mm per 1 m.

A3: Please check the concrete slab dimension against the drawing.

A5: Before you start, be sure that slab is dry from water, snow and dust.

A6: Do not modify the shape of our oak products.

A7: Concrete slab should be cleaned from rainwater and snow.

Q: How to keep oak beams after unloading?

If you decide to clean timber, please use only water base liquids, do not use any acid-based cleaners.

A3: Ensure adequate ventilation between the oak beams.

A4: Do not store oak products in an area where dump areas have recently been working or areas that are still drying out.

A5: Do not store in areas of strong sunlight for long periods of time to avoid splits, twisting and shrinking.

A6: Keep your site clean every time, before assembly and after assembly works (health and safety rule), take care of garbage and recycling.
